Mission statement: The goal of Project Zero is to raise awareness about adoption through the state foster care system with the ultimate goal of finding a forever family for every child that is waiting.

About: The Pulaski County Adoption Coalition was formed years ago to further the cause of adoption in our county. The coalition was made up of DCFS staff, attorneys, adoptive parents, foster parents, adoption professionals, and others who were passionate about adoption. In 2009, our coalition obtained its' 501c3 non-profit status.

As time went on, we realized that although many of our events were productive, there was much more that needed to be done in the effort to link waiting kids and adoptive families. Project Zero was born in the fall of 2011 as a result of that need for change. PZ is a ramped up version of our coalition with the renewed goal of deliberately and purposefully pursuing out-of-the-box ways to find forever families for the kids in our county and state who are waiting.

Services: It is our desire at Project Zero to build friendships with the children in our county/state who are waiting and in doing so, get to know them and their needs better. We want to do this through monthly events in non-threatening settings; events that bring new life experiences as well as fun into the lives of our kids. We create opportunities for waiting children to meet potential families through our Heart Gallery tour dates, meet and greets with waiting families, child specific recruiting, our annual statewide Disney Extravaganza, along with many other matching events throughout the state. We are also meeting monthly with our adoption unit and meeting individually as needed with waiting families.

Volunteer opportunities: There are many ways the community can get involved with Project Zero. We are always looking for new people to join our team. We have volunteer opportunities; such as, help plan and attend our matching events and/or fundraising events or becoming a mentor for a waiting child. We are also looking to partner with local churches and businesses who would allow us to display our beautiful Heart Gallery.
