About: United Way of Northwest Arkansas is an independently-governed 501(c)3 nonprofit organization connected to a network of more than 1,400 local United Ways through United Way Worldwide. We have our own board of directors and focus our work creating long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of problems within our community. United Way of Northwest Arkansas proudly serves Benton, Madison, McDonald and Washington counties.

Services: Free Tax Service Initiative- United Way's Free Tax Service Initiative is designed to help hardworking families in the Northwest Arkansas area who qualify with free tax preparation and financial literacy! We work to ensure financial eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit and other deductions available to disadvantaged families to maximize their funds. This program runs annually January through April.

United Way 2-1-1 Helpline- 2-1-1 is a free telephone service that connects individuals in need to important community services in Northwest Arkansas. The 2-1-1 call center serves Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington counties. Depending on local resources, referral services include: Food banks, shelters, and rent/utility assistance, Health insurance programs, crisis intervention services, support groups, counseling, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, Employment support, Support services for children and the elderly.

Volunteer opportunities: Live United Day is one of the largest one-day volunteer efforts of the year. Northwest Arkansas unites to serve Benton and Washington counties. Local volunteers are paired with non-profits to complete much needed projects. For your business or organization, Live United Day provides a simple, effective and highly visible way to demonstrate strong corporate citizenship, community leadership and a culture of philanthropy. It also provides great team-building opportunities for employee groups to collaborate for a great cause outside the office.

Fill the Bus, in partnership with Walmart is an initiative that provides a step out of poverty for children in Northwest Arkansas. Fill the Bus is a school supply drive at the nine area Walmart Supercenters and supplies are entrusted to 16 area school districts. This program supports children in our community by helping them start school with confidence and gives them the literal tools they need to succeed.
United Way staff and volunteers spent the weekend filling the bus with school supplies at all the Walmart Supercenters in Benton, Madison, and Washington counties in Arkansas and McDonald County in Missouri. Through their efforts and the generous hearts of the NWA community.
