Legal Aid of Arkansas

Locations: Springdale, AR
Phone: 479-442-0600
Website: http://www.arlegalservices.org/legalaid

Mission: The mission of Legal Aid of Arkansas (LAA) is to champion equal justice for low income individuals and communities and to remedy the conditions that burden and marginalize them. LAA works to remedy the effects of poverty and inequality through a mix of direct legal services, strategic partnerships, and community outreach and education.

Through its medical-legal partnerships (MLPs) with six Arkansas healthcare institutions, LAA works to improve the social and environmental conditions that influence the health of low-income Arkansans. Poverty lawyers are integrated into the clinical setting where they act as subspecialists to address individual and systemic causes of health disparities.

About: LAA endeavors to be a key partner in Arkansas's efforts to reduce poverty and provide equal access to the justice system. LAA works to provide high quality, courteous, and effective legal services to low-income families and individuals facing serious threats to their personal, economic, or family stability. LAA also strives to work in collaboration with community partners to identify and respond to problems faced by low-income communities.

LAA services center on providing support for families; preserving the home; maintaining economic stability; ensuring safety, stability, and health; and addressing the needs of populations with special vulnerabilities, always being mindful of problems that uniquely or disproportionately affect distinct and significant segments of the eligible client population.

Services: Legal Aid of Arkansas (LAA) is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that provides free legal services to low-income individuals residing in the state of Arkansas in civil (non-criminal) cases. LAA is headquartered in Jonesboro and serves 31 of the 75 counties in Arkansas.
